Dear Lovely: You Know Who You Are

Dear Lovely: You Know Who You Are

There’s no need to prove anything. There’s no need to fight back. There’s no need to stoop as low as they have just to teach them a lesson or show them who you are. You’ve already been showing the world who you are, they already know.

Life lesson, listen up.

People are going to talk about you. Let me rip the bandaid. That’s just a part of life. You will hope what they say comes from a good place. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. People will say bad things about you. Lies. It’s gonna get you all riled up. It’s gonna make you want to say something back.

Girl, I know you want to defend yourself. I know you’re probably thinking of all sorts of comebacks in the shower, practicing what to say. That’s your brain helping you get over things. Let it out. It’s okay. But you do not need to always fight fire with fire.

Let it be.

There are times when you won’t need to do anything because you have already laid the groundwork, you’ve already shown the right people who you really are and those people will rise up and defend you. Sometimes you don’t need to be the last word. Your actions are louder than your words.

I know it’s hard. I know you want the last clap. But what if I told you that you’ve already won? That you don’t need to consume that negative energy and instead you just need to fuel yourself with kindness and positive thoughts?

Let’s get real though.

I know you think this is sounding a bit too rainbows and sunshine. I know you’re angry. It’s really bothering you. Might I suggest you take a breath? Look back and see all the groundwork you’ve laid out.

You know who you are. You know what you stand for. Are those lies worth defending? Or is spreading your truth how you already just do you better than trying to translate the parseltongue?

You know who you are love, you don’t need to speak to snakes.

Love,

Leave something lovely
