3 Easy Resume Tips To Level-Up Yours Today

Loveleemonicaa’s RESUME TIPS

Maybe you’re stuck in a job you hate, looking at the clock wondering when it’s time for lunch. Or, you’ve been thinking about changing it up, maybe it’s time to go out for that dream job. You might just want a job period. Well, you’re gonna need a bomb ass resume. Here are three resume tips that will help you get the job.

TIP #1: ONE PAGE MAX

I know what you’re thinking. You’ve done so much and you want to show it off. I believe you. I hear you. Let’s maybe have a giant resume with all your accomplishments. Keep adding to it when you do something big at work.

I like to keep a running list on LinkedIn. That’s where my “master resume” lives. The resume you’re working on should be for the job you’re applying for. You’re looking to tailor it specifically to the job you’re applying for. This means you’re using the words in the job description and looking for where you can apply these in your resume. That’s the game. Play to win.

TIP #2: USE ACTIVE VOICE

Think Spanish class. What did you do? Managed? Created? Designed? What’s the verb? What’s your action? After you decided on the verb, make sure the action that follows is specific. If you managed a team, how many were on the team? What was one project that provided impressive results? Put the number in there. This is your chance to impress. Instead of being general, be unique.

TIP #3: USE CANVA.

This is not an ad. I discovered Canva a few years ago and have been making my resumes here for indefinitely. They have templates that you can plug in your info and customize colors and fonts to your liking. If you’re applying for a job that is in the creative space, they have colorful and vibrant templates for you to choose from. If you’re going for a more corporate job, they also have standard templates that still provide a chance to include a little personality. Mix and match. See what works for you.

BONUS TIP: HIRE SOMEONE TO HELP YOU.
